How to Install And Login To LastPass In 2022

Login To LastPass: You should have requested a LastPass account by filling out the Self-Service Form (in the “Describe your issue box,” type “LastPass”). In addition, you should have received an email with more instructions.

LastPass must be installed on your device in order to use this feature. For your mobile device, get the LastPass browser plugin and/or the LastPass app from the app store. This has already been completed for you if you use Desktop @ UCL.

Instructions

1. Make a Master Password first.

An email containing an activation link should have been sent to you by the Information Security Group. This is a prompt to make a strong, one-of-a-kind master password. Pay attention to the email’s directions.

Because LastPass won’t save your password for you, choose a memorable one. You just have to remember this one password.

LastPass suggests using a “password” for your Master Password, such as tony$, growler$, or venT$15, that is useless to others and impossible for hackers to guess, but that you can memorize.

2. Login using your browser or the LastPass app on your phone.

2.1 LastPass via your browser

2.1.1 Download the LastPass browser plugin if you haven’t done so before. This has already been completed for you if you use Desktop @ UCL.

LastPass appears on your browser’s toolbar once you’ve downloaded and installed it.

2.1.2. Click the grey LastPass icon in your browser toolbar to log in to your account and begin enjoying all of LastPass’s capabilities.

2.1.3. After that, click Log In and enter your email address and LastPass Master Password.

The LastPass symbol will become red once you’ve logged in, indicating that you’ve logged in successfully.

LastPass will prompt you to store your logins when you begin checking in to websites. When you visit those websites again, LastPass will recognize them and automatically fill in the login information for you.

You can open your vault, search your stored things, generate new passwords, and more with the LastPass extension’s drop-down menu.

The Meet the Browser Extension video (from LastPass) gives a good overview of this:

2.2 LastPass with your device’s app.

2.2.1. For iOS or Android, get the LastPass Password Manager.

2.2.2. Enter your email address and master password on the app.

You must validate your email address at least once in order to be able to verify that you have access to it for your LastPass account. A verification link will be sent to you through email by the system.

2.2.3. Tap the verification link in the email.

2.2.4. Return to the LastPass app and confirm your identity by entering your email address and master password again.

Unless you opt to clear your mobile device configuration settings, these settings will continue to be kept, and you will no longer be required to verify your identity by email from this device.

3. Activate two-factor authentication.

When you login to LastPass, you’ll be asked for additional information such as your email address and master password. It is an additional layer of defence. We strongly advise using two-factor authentication with LastPass to protect yourself from threats like key logger malware. If someone gets your LastPass password, they won’t be able to access your account without your authenticator code since you’ve enabled two-factor authentication. LastPass supports authenticators like Google Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator, and others.

3.1. Log in to LastPass using your browser if you haven’t previously.

3.3 Go to My Vault and select “Open.”

3.4. Select Account Settings from the Account drop-down menu.
